Individual Giving Options
Direct Donation: One-time and recurring donors provide reliable support that helps WNDB continue its fight to put diverse books in the hands of all children. You can make a direct donation via mail with a check or money order made payable to We Need Diverse Books, 10319 Westlake Drive #104, Bethesda, MD 20817.
You can also donate online here, which will take you to a secure web page where you can choose your donation amount and frequency. The minimum online donation is $5.00.
Honor or Memorial: A gift to WNDB in honor or memory of a loved one is a wonderful tribute for any occasion.
Retirement Plans: Naming WNDB as a beneficiary of your 401k, IRA, or other retirement accounts is incredibly impactful for your heirs and for WNDB. Retirement accounts that have grown tax-free over time are generally the most desirable assets for charitable giving, as they are taxable to heirs when inherited.
Additionally, with an IRA, you can donate up to $100,000 of your required minimum distribution (RMD) annually, if you are over 70 ½, directly to WNDB through a Qualified Charitable Distribution, reducing your adjusted gross income for tax and Medicare payment calculations.
Matching Gifts: Many employers will match charitable contributions made by their employees and sometimes double or triple your gift! If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. If you donate online, you can send the required forms to info@diversebooks.org.
Planned Giving: By including WNDB in your will, you can leave the legacy of literature and equity to future generations.
- Sample Language: “I give and bequeath to We Need Diverse Books, a not-for-profit corporation, with principal offices presently located at 10319 Westlake Drive #104, Bethesda, MD 20817, the sum of _____ (or _______% of my estate), to be used for the accomplishment of its general purpose.”
Charitable Trust: A charitable trust arrangement will allow you to use your assets to create a stream of income for yourself or your beneficiaries. You can transfer the principal assets to WNDB once the trust has terminated, or you can name WNDB as a beneficiary of the generated income, and return the assets to your family after a specified number of years.
Gifts of Stock
A gift of stock or appreciated securities provides support to WNDB at the same time providing you a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the gift. In addition, no capital gains tax would be due, which would not be the case if you sold the stock on the open market and then donated the revenue to WNDB.
IRS terms and conditions for charitable giving are subject to change. We recommend that you consult a tax advisor or legal advisor to determine how best to manage your retirement plans and giving. For more information, please contact us at info@diversebooks.org or telephone at 701-404-9632.
Corporate Giving and Partnerships
How Companies and WNDB can work together
Cause-Related Marketing. Your company may be able to increase its sales by designating a certain percent or amount of money from your products to WNDB.
Customer Fundraising. Companies can help raise money for WNDB by giving customers the opportunity to donate. This can reap huge dividends in terms of building customer loyalty and brand equity for your company.
Donation. Many companies or their charitable foundations choose to make a straightforward corporate donation. WNDB works closely with our partners to decide where the money goes and to publicize the donation to our members and the public.
Matching Gifts. WNDB is grateful to companies that provide financial support through employee gift matching programs. These programs not only increase the financial benefits to WNDB but also generate corporate support that mirrors the interest and commitment of employees.
Payroll Giving. Your employees can help WNDB by giving a small regular amount from their salaries. These regular amounts are invaluable as they allow us to plan our services better and therefore invest in long term projects. If your company has a Payroll Giving program already we would love the opportunity to promote our charity to your employees.
Sponsorship and Programmatic Support. Sponsorship and programmatic support help heightened corporate image, brand awareness, and the potential for increased business while demonstrating social responsibility and community involvement. If you are interested in sponsoring a WNDB program, please contact us at info@diversebooks.org or complete the contact form here. <<INSERT LINK TO CONTACT US PAGE>>
