We Need Diverse Books Announces New Board Members

Washington, DC — We Need Diverse Books is pleased to announce the appointment of four new board members: Zoraida Córdova, Minh Lê, Cornelius Minor, and Kaitlyn Sage Patterson.
Zoraida Córdova is the author of several young adult and middle grade fantasy novels, including the award-winning Brooklyn Brujas series, and co-host of the writing podcast Deadline City. Minh Lê is a picture book and middle grade author of books including the 2019 Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature winner Drawn Together. Cornelius Minor is a Brooklyn-based educator; co-founder of The Minor Collective, a community-based movement designed to foster sustainable change in schools; and the author of We Got This. Kaitlyn Sage Patterson is the author of The Diminished and its sequel The Exalted.
“WNDB is thrilled to have these four talented authors and educators joining our board,” said Ellen Oh, President and CEO of WNDB. “We are excited to see the direction and vision that this new board will take us in the coming year.” The four new board members will be joining Ellen Oh, Dhonielle Clayton (COO), and Judy Schricker (CFO).
WNDB also announces the recent departure of Nicole Johnson, who worked as Executive Director since 2017. Nicole and WNDB are parting ways amicably. “The team at We Need Diverse Books thanks Nicole Johnson for her incredible work these last three years, and wishes her the best in her future endeavors,” said Clayton. Caroline Tung Richmond, WNDB’s Program Director, will step in as Interim Executive Director until a new Executive Director is named.
